How To Scale Your Business By Creating A Movement

blogs business strategy leadership transformational movement Feb 16, 2023

Just like we have stages of evolution in our lives, businesses also have stages of change. Traditionally, for solopreneur coaches, these stages move along the launch, grow, and scale model that focuses on your business’s physical growth over time, and your ability to step out of your business as you “scale” becomes a driving element. However, a more in-depth, foundational evolution must successfully shift from one to many. This is often called scaling, but I call this creating a movement.

Moving from Purpose to Movement

The purpose of our business and vision for the impact it will create must grow and evolve. This type of foundational growth is often the driver of success on the other levels.
I think of this foundational business evolution in moving from purpose to movement.

Purpose defines your intention and goals in your business. Why do you want to have a business? What impact do you want to make?

The movement goes deeper and broader. Underneath your sense of purpose are vital principles and drivers that create and propel your vision for change. These core principles speak to your client’s core desires and inspire them to embrace their potential and create change in their lives. Your movement is rooted in these catalyzing principles that connect your transformational expertise with your clients.

Clarifying and strengthening your movement’s foundation catalyzes your business’s energy in a way that can propel your growth with passion and ease.

Tuning into the movement you want to create is like catching the wind in your sail instead of trying to paddle upstream.

How I Created a Movement

Over the fifteen years I have had a movement therapy business and coaching practice, I have experienced this evolution from purpose to movement in my business through various developments. When I started my business, it was a side business to support my dance and performance work and give me an avenue to use my movement expertise to help my clients move without pain and improve their quality of life and health. As my business evolved, this sense of purpose became. I began coaching other artists to develop movement coaching businesses to expand their impact with their expertise and make a sustainable living. As my business evolved, these felt like separate threads, and I had to choose one.

But when I listened more deeply, I realized that they were both part of the same movement of tuning into our bodies as a source of insight, wisdom, and purpose to heal, grow, and transform all aspects of life. Now, my business is centered around supporting coaches, healers, and transformational leaders to tune into their bodies and deepen their purpose and vision to create their movement in the world.

How to Create Your Movement

So, how can you embody your purpose and create your movement? You can start by considering these three questions.

  1. What core experiences of transformation have driven you to create a transformational coaching business?
  2. What core insights did you learn from these experiences that inspire your clients to create change in their lives?
  3. What do you want to give and receive from these experiences and insights to catalyze a movement through your transformational business?

These are just a few questions to get you started. Grab the guide below for a deeper dive to create your movement.
